Storm chaser killed in Turner Turnpike accident
SAPULPA, Okla.—A noted storm chaser and part-time Oklahoman was one of two victims killed in a fatal wreck on the Turner Turnpike.
Andy Gabrielson, 24, was on his way to Laverne, Minnesota after chasing storms near Fort Worth.
He was traveling along the Turner Turnpike Saturday afternoon when authorities say a driver going the wrong way in the eastbound lanes caused a major accident.
The lanes were closed for about an hour and a half as officials investigated the scene.
Gabrielson was part of the crew of the Weather Channel’s “The Tornado Hunt.”
There were other injuries, but their conditions have not been released.
