OKLAHOMA CITY — A family is in mourning after officers discovered the bodies of a mother and her young daughter inside their home near N.E. 122nd and Air Depot. Now the husband and father has been found dead in a Las Vegas hotel.

Investigators believe 29-year-old Daniel Johnston killed his wife and daughter before flying to Las Vegas this past Sunday.

They say Mr. Johnston’s death appears to be a suicide.

An anonymous caller tipped off Edmond Police Tuesday morning.

Edmond then called Oklahoma City Police because though this house has an Edmond address, it’s in OKC’s jurisdiction.

By Tuesday afternoon officers had a search warrant, entered the home, and found the bodies of 29-year-old Tara Johnston and her 1-year-old daughter Allison.

Allen Fielder lives next door and says, “It’s the unknown that makes you fear I guess more than anything else. They seemed very happy. They would walk up and down the street out here holding hands and walking their baby in a stroller. This is the most unlikely thing. We can’t believe it. I hope they can find what happened soon for everyone’s sake.”

It’s not clear how long the bodies have been in the home.

A fund has been set up for the family at First Fidelity Bank in Edmond.
