Savannah Fouch was rushed to surgery in critical condition last week but her family says her condition is improving.

Her family released the following statement:

“This was a terrible accident that has affected both children terribly. We have a long road ahead of us, but we are trusting that with God’s strength and the support of our church and community, that we will make it through this.”

Fouch was shot in the forehead with a .22 caliber hunting rifle by her 14-year-old cousin.
