NORMAN, Okla. — University of Oklahoma students marched through campus Monday to raise awareness about the death of Trayvon Martin. More than 100 students wore hoodies and carried Skittles to remember the Florida teen who was gunned down by a neighborhood watch captain last month.
A similar demonstration was held in Oklahoma City over the weekend.
The demonstrators want a full investigation into Martin’s shooting.
“We have to identify what role race plays in here and how we see those people,” one student said.
Martin was shot and killed while walking home from a convenience store.
The man accused of shooting Martin has not been arrested.
His attorney says he acted in self-defense.
