OK waits for lottery winner to come forward
SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — We know a winning MegaMillions ticket was not sold in Oklahoma but people in our state did walk away with a few extra dollars here and there.
In fact, a few people still won pretty significant prizes.
One ticket even ended up just one number away from the jackpot, netting them a prize of $250,000.
Rollo Redburn, with the Oklahoma Lottery Commission, said, “We haven’t heard from them yet. So, we don’t know if it’s a person an individual or a group.”
It’s the biggest prize won in Oklahoma on last Friday’s MegaMillions lottery drawing.
The lucky ticket was sold to a customer at a QuikTrip along 41st St. in Sand Springs.
Lottery officials said that ticketholder will have to come to their office to claim the prize.
Redburn said, “A ticket that size, they should call us and give us a heads up to let us know they’re coming.”
It’s not the biggest prize ever in our state; that went to a woman from Muldrow, a lump sum of $46.8 million.
While everyone waits for the big winner to come forward there are plenty of other Oklahomans out there who won something.
Some played with a group, like Ronnie, who said, “We didn’t win. We bought 229 tickets.”
They didn’t win the big one but did net $4 out of all those tickets.
Over all there were more than 140,000 tickets sold in Oklahoma that won something.
The prize total for all those tickets adds up to nearly $1.2 million.
Those winners will have up to 180 days to claim their prize.
Anyone whose winnings are under $600 can claim the prize at any lottery retailer.
By the way, if that $250,000 ticket holder would’ve paid an extra buck for the Megaplier, he or she would’ve won $1,000,000.
The Megaplier was three, however on the $250,000 prize it is automatically multiplied to $1,000,000.
