OKLAHOMA CITY – An elderly woman’s car jumps off a service drive road, takes out trees, a store front and totals four cars.

Bob Moore Chopper 4 flew over the scene as the vehicles were being towed away.

It happened around 4 p.m. near S.E. 44th St.

Police said a 79-year-old woman was on the I-35 service road when her SUV veered off the pavement.

It jumped the curb, knocked down a street sign and crashed into three vehicles.

The SUV only stopped after ramming into the store front of a nail salon.

Most of the glass was busted out and the waiting area is destroyed.

Connivence store manager Nixon Alam works next door and saw the whole thing.

“I heard the sound of tires screeching and I turned back right away and I saw it coming. The SUV was probably going 60 or 80 miles an hour.”

Teresa Bubiose’s truck was one of the three vehicles hit.

“I heard a boom and I turned around and I thought, that’s my truck,” she said.

She then helped the woman out of her car and waited for EMSA.

Bystanders said the driver began talking about a concern she had.

“She said something like, she didn’t have brakes in her car or she was concerned about the brakes,” Traci Nyuyen said.

Nguyen owns the complex and said another vehicle crashed into the plaza about three months ago but on the other side.

Witnesses said the woman had a large gash on her forehead but was coherent.

The driver was taken to an area hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic investigators are working to determine the cause.
