Fire destroys home, owner not insured
NEWALLA, Okla. — A homeowner is now in the process of cleaning up after a fire destroyed his home last week.
Darrell McGuire said there isn’t much left of his house on the 16000 block of King Arthur Court.
“It is still hard to believe right now. I just can’t fathom it happening to me,” McGuire said.
McGuire said he cancelled his homeowner’s insurance a few months ago.
Last week before the fire, he made plans to renew the policy for his home and a new truck.
“Just got down on my luck a little bit and my sister offered to pay it and I told her, “‘No, I’d be alright, what could happen?’ This is what happened,” McGuire said.
He said it is a tough lesson but is something he will have to deal with.
“I’m a survivor. I’m just going to keep on day-to-day,” McGuire said.
To help, his sister has set up a fund for him at the Tinker Federal Credit Union.
