President makes surprise visit to Afghanistan
KABUL, Afghanistan — President Barack Obama has made a surprise visit to Afghanistan Wednesday.
He landed at the Bagram air base under the cover of darkness.
The president arrived at the massive base on board a darkened Air Force One before traveling to Kabul to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The President planned to make a joint appearance with Karzai and both presidents plan to sign a new Strategic Forces Agreement, setting out a path for the U.S. troop drawdown in Afghanistan.
The president will speak to the American people in a live televised address from Afghanistan at 6:30 p.m.
