Suspicious package deemed safe by police
OKLAHOMA CITY—A suspicious package that was found along the city’s southwest side has been deemed safe.
The bomb squad was called to the scene near S.W. 5th St. and Shartel when an abandoned backpack was discovered just after 12 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Police blocked off the area while authorities investigated.
Investigators were able to determine the backpack was full of rechargeable batteries.
