MIDWEST CITY -- A mother and her two small children were killed in an apartment fire Sunday.

Family and friends set up a makeshift memorial for Lindsey Terry and her two sons, Dylan, 4, and John, 2, outside the Raintree Meadows Apartments Monday.

They were killed after a fire engulfed their home.

The Midwest City Fire Department said Terry called her mother, who lives downstairs, and told her their apartment was on fire.

“Her daughter called her and told her she couldn’t get out of her apartment and so the grandmother tried to go upstairs, but the smoke was too heavy,” Midwest City Fire Major David Richardson.

Terry and her two kids were found in a back bedroom.

Investigators said the flames may have prevented them from escaping the apartment.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

A fund has been set up for the family at Chase Bank.
