Naked woman rescued from burning home
CHICKASHA, Okla. — A Chickasha woman was rescued from her burning home under an unusual circumstance.
At first, neighbors thought she was taking a shower and didn’t know her home was on fire, because when police rescued her, she was not wearing stitch of clothing, proving in a situation like this, every second counts.
“I could see smoke clearly from my location,” Chickasha Police Officer Matthew Schoolfield said. “As I got closer, I could see the flames coming from the northwest side of the house.”
Schoolfield was nearby and the first on scene.
Several neighbors tried going inside but didn’t see or hear anything.
Little did anyone know, there were more than a couple of animals inside the burning home.
“It got to the point where the smoke was getting thick and I didn’t think I could go in any farther and that’s when I thought I heard something,” Schoolfield said. “It turned out to be somebody in there.”
“She was asleep in there and the officer woke her up, bless his soul,” Jay Figler said.
Figler’s 27-year-old daughter was asleep inside, in the nude, and unaware her home was on fire.
“She was kind of confused and disoriented,” Schoolfield said.
“The police officer went in there and he more-or-less saved her. The smoke would have gotten her,” Figler said. “They had it under control before you could say, ‘Cat in the Hat.’”
“I just feel like I was doing my job like anyone else would have done,” Schoolfield said.
“I’m blessed,” Figler said. “We need to find out who he is so we can thank him.”
Fire crews were able to stop the flames from destroying the home.
Nobody was hurt and the animals are safe as well.
