Plane crashes near Checotah, kills 1
Checotah, Okla.– A plane crashes in rural Oklahoma Saturday, killing one person.
Troopers were called out to the scene, just west of Checotah, after 4 p.m. Saturday.
We’re told the pilot of the 1998 Titan Tornado Two was killed in the crash.
He has been identified as 42-year-old Douglas Hyer.
The incident report says a witness saw the plane turning west and then nose diving into the ground.
The cause of the crash is now under investigation.
