Dog food recall includes Okla.
A well-known pet food company is expanding a voluntary recall to include a product that was sold in Oklahoma.
Diamond Pet Foods is recalling its Diamond Naturals Small Breed Adult Dog Lamb & Rice Formula dry dog food manufactured on August 26, 2011.
The dog food is being included in the recall because of a potential exposure to Salmonella.
Only samples, 6-pound and 18-pound bag sizes are affected.
The affected production code and best before date are as follows:
DSL0801 , 27-Sept-2012
Officials said that product was sold in Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
So far, no illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella can cause your pet to have a decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.
If left untreated, many animals may be lethargic and have diarrhea, fever and vomiting.
Individuals handling dry pet food can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands.
