OKLAHOMA CITY — Did you see it? The close-up shot at the end of the fourth quarter in Game 1 of the NBA Finals?
The popular video and snapshot have gone viral.
As the tide turned for the Thunder in the fourth quarter, the cameras turned to a pair of scowling faces in the sea of Thunder blue.
It was Heat General Manager Pat Riley and former Heat player Alonzo Mourning.
Sitting directly behind them was Thunder super fan Britanny Parish.
As the camera pushed in on Riley and Mourning, Britanny let the Heat execs have it.
“I took my little clapper thing and turned it into my megaphone and I was like, ‘Let’s Go Thunder,’” Britanny said. “Then I was saying, ‘The Heat sucks’ and stuff like that.”
A viral slam dunk witnessed in more than 200 countries!
Brittany, who moonlights as a hairstylist at Salon Envy, wasn’t even sure who was taking her playful aggression.
She said, “My husband leans over and says, ‘That’s Alonzo Mourning’ and I say ‘Who?’”
“He says, ‘That’s Pat Riley,” and I go, ‘Who’s Pat Riley?’”
So what set off this feisty super fan?
Brittany said it was something Mourning did to her husband during a TV timeout.
“He just gently pats Alonzo. Pats him on the back and says, ‘Hey buddy, you care if i get a picture?’ Alonzo goes (noise). So rude,” she said. “he was chewing his gum and his jaw was disintegrating that gum. You could see the veins in the side of his head.”
Brittany’s co-workers were watching at home, Thunder proud of their girl standing up for her man.
For a brief moment, Brittany captured the attention of the world and her legend only grows.
Brittany says after the texts, the comments, the Facebook messages, the calls, everything, she has this message for old man Riley.
“Pat Riley, I might not know who you are, but you definitely know who I am now,” she said.
You might have noticed Brittany wasn’t wearing her free Thunder t-shirt given to fans prior to tip-off.
Right before her close-up she took it off.
Not because she was being a bad fan, she’s actually pregnant and felt like she was going to pass out from the heat and excitement.
