Teacher charged for secret relationship with student
STROUD, Okla. — A former teacher is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
An official with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says Mandi Guerrero, 34, turned herself in at the Lincoln County Jail Tuesday afternoon.
Guerrero faces a charge of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child under 16.
“No one ever wants a student to have to go through any type of lewd or indecent proposals or acts. None of us want that. We want to make sure when our students or kids go to school they are in a safe environment,” said Jessica Brown with the OSBI.
Investigators say Guerrero had a secret relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
Guerrero taught kindergarten and was a cheerleading coach at the high school.
Authorities started investigating the allegations back in April.
Investigators say a family member found love letters in the victim’s bedroom.
According to the affidavit, Guerrero and the victim would kiss.
OSBI handled the investigation and turned the findings over to the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office.
Guerrero’s bond was set at $5,000.
