Man arrested, accused of turtle abuse
OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City man was arrested last week on a charge of Animal Cruelty involving a turtle.
According to the police report, 39-year-old Derrick D. Peace was arrested for cracking the shell of a red-eared slider.
Oklahoma City Animal Welfare initially responded to the call and found the injured turtle in the roadway.
City police made the arrest.
The injured turtle was taken to the OKC Zoo and then Wildcare where it was treated and later died.
In found guilty, Peace could fined up to $1,200 and face jail time.
Authorities have not yet released how the turtle may have been injured.
