In Your Corner: Fun4Singles, no fun

MOORE, OK - We have a warning for local singles in search of companionship online.

The website causing the stir is Fun4Singles.com. It claims to offer fun activities for singles in more than 30 cities nationwide, including Oklahoma City.

But Marlene Noble says Fun4Singles.com has been a total bust.

“I signed up for five activities,” she said. “There was the book club. They canceled that.”

The same thing happened with a horseback riding outing and murder mystery comedy dinner.

Marlene said, “This is supposed to be at Cattleman's Steakhouse.”

The popular steakhouse tells In Your Corner it's never heard of Fun4Singles.com.

Other metro businesses, like AMF Moore Lanes, also claim to have zero ties to the Colorado company or its singles gatherings.

General Manager Jonathan Fisher said, “We don't allow groups to advertise our name without our permission and we haven't heard of this group doing business.”

The Better Business Bureau gives Fun4singles.com a failing grade.

Singles nationwide allege events are always either postponed or rescheduled but never end up taking place.

“Every single one had been postponed or cancelled due to 'lack of enrollment', they claimed,” Milwaukee customer Becky Lowe said. “It was really strange that they were all cancelled or postponed."

Our sister station in Denver, KUSA-TV tried tracking down the company's founder and president, Christopher Malone. He wasn’t home, but later offered up his side of things during a phone conversation with Milwaukee's WDJT-TV, where at one point Malone was also under investigation.

“The whole idea behind Fun4Singles is to be something positive,” Malone said. “Certainly there are areas where the service needs improvements, that is being focused on.”

Malone however refuses to take responsibility for any cancellations and encourages customers to read the fine print before signing up for his service.

He said, “It states the events that do not have a minimum of five members signed up will be cancelled or rescheduled."

For Marlene, it's not just about the cold hard cash.

She said, “It's just the idea you thought you had something going and it's totally wiped out.

Our numerous calls to Malone and his company were not returned.
