YUKON, OK – Brides and their families are furious with Kristie Barnes, owner of Enchanted Evening Bridal and Formalwear in Yukon.
“Our bridesmaid dresses, our bridesmaid dresses,” Tina Johnson said. “None of us have our bridesmaid dresses.”
Johnson is the cousin of the bride and alleges Barnes won’t reveal the whereabouts of their dresses.
The bridal shop owner claims the dresses sustained water damage after busted pipes flooded her place.
“I said I want to see it,” Johnson said. “She goes, ‘well I shipped the dresses off to the cleaners to clean them and soak them because the bottoms were ruined’.”
Barnes though couldn’t produce any receipts or invoices for the plumbing work or drycleaning order.
She claims she placed the order for the dresses through a manufacturer called Bari Jay, but Bari Jay’s owner, Erica Rosenfeld, sent us this statement:
“I received your message and I am sorry for not getting back to you, I was told that the situation was under control and the store had given the money back to the consumer.
The order was never placed with us, as you seemed to have thought. We never shipped them the four misty blue dresses, they never needed to be cleaned because we never had the order to begin with.
In a panic the store called us and we shipped them one 641 in misty blue. That is it.
The store told my customer service that another store placed the order for them (we call this trans-shipping and we do not allow it) but we can’t find any record of these dresses being placed.”
Stephanie Willis also alleges Barnes never ordered her wedding dress.
Just like the other dissatisfied customers, Willis says the bridal shop owner pawned a share of the blame on her assistant, someone we’re not sure even exists.
“She said her assistant’s sister had a baby and while she was on her way to get our dress, her sister went into labor, so she forgot all about our dress and went to her sister,” Willis said.
We asked to verify the story with the assistant, but were never allowed.
Barnes has since refunded these customers their money.
Barnes says she’s keeping her doors open and working to remedy customer complaints.
While we finally got her to admit to making some mistakes, she’s still sticking to most of her story.
