Grilling

EDMOND, Okla.—A local barbecue joint fired up their grills for a good cause Saturday morning.

The Meat House hosted a charity barbecue to benefit the Boys Ranch Town in Edmond.

More than ten smokers were fired up to grill more than 2,000 pounds of meat, including pork ribs, chicken and beef brisket.

The ranch is home to 40 boys between the ages of 7 to 18-years-old.

Organizers hoped to raise enough money to buy a van for the program.

Randy Pickle said, “Everything we do, we try to make like a normal home as possible except you live with 7 other brothers and we need everything you need in your home; walk through your home, paper towels, things like that, that’s what we need.”

More than $10,000 was raised throughout Saturday’s events.

Organizers say it is a great start but is still short of the $32,000 needed to purchase a new van.
