STILLWATER, Okla. — the city of Stillwater is getting ready to roll out the orange carpet for an international company looking to expand into their community.
When MerCrusier left the Stillwater community, many wondered what would happen to this facility and if those jobs would ever return to this community.
Monday they got their answer.
A huge aerospace company, ASCO, is coming to Stillwater.
Community leaders and the Lt. Governor were in Stillwater Monday for the local announcement, though the official announcement was made in Europe earlier in the day with ASCO officials and Gov. Fallin.
Losing MerCruiser was a big hit to this community where, at one time, about 1,000 people were employed.
ASCO will bring in at least 500 jobs and could eventually expand from there.
A major player in the aerospace industry, this new spot is centrally located and will help ASCO service areas like Oklahoma City, Wichita and Tulsa.
It’s a big deal to this community and our state.
The first signs of progress will come as early as Sept. when ASCO will hire 250 new employees.
Those interested in applying at ASCO can do so through the Oklahoma Employment Securities Commission.
