OKLAHOMA CITY — Thunder basketball fans got a jolt Monday night courtesy of some not-so-funny social media posts.
About 6 p.m. a picture showed up on Thunder star James Harden’s Instagram account.
Instagram is a social media site for pictures.
The pic showed a note, allegedly from The Beard saying he’d been traded to another team.
The post looked like an old-time telegram and read:
“Just found out I got traded to the Hornets. I’ll miss OKC.”
Well, within 10 minutes the picture had been deleted from the Instagram account.
But it sent the News Channel 4 Sports Department scrambling.
Bob Barry Junior confirmed with the Thunder Director of Basketball Communications, Matt Tumbleson, that the pic was in fact a hoax.
Tumbleson texted to Barry; “Harden is not being traded.”
News Channel 4 hasn’t heard a word from the real James Harden.
However, many of his Twitterverse faithful insist the whole thing was a hoax.
So, relax Thunder fans, the Sixth Man of the Year is sill with the Thunder and getting ready to represent the red, white and blue in the Summer Olympics Games in London.
Harden, along with Thunder teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, were all invited to be on Team USA.
