13-year-old crashes car injuring two teens
CHEROKEE COUNTY , Okla.– Early Saturday morning a 13-year-old Catoosa boy crashed a pickup truck injuring two other young passengers.
Trey Johnson was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup around 2:00 a.m. when he struck a mailbox about seven miles north of Tahlequah.
Johnson overcorrected onto the roadway when the vehicle struck a ditch, flipped one time, and hit a tree.
Johnson and another 13-year-old passenger, Andrew Dearmond, were transported to Tahlequah City Hospital.
Both teens were treated for head and chest injuries, but were released.
Gage Shriver, the 16-year old passenger, was also injured and transported to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa.
Shriver was treated for head and chest injuries and is in stable condition.
Troopers said the cause of the collision was due to Johnson’s inexperience as a driver.
