Well this week started out hot and I don’t mean just the weather.
We started out Monday with a grass fire just north of Will Rodgers World airport where OKC FD was able to contain it before it reached any structures and allowing only five acres to burn on the windy day.
Tuesday OKC FD had there work cut out for them as they battled a five-alarm chemical fire at the Bachman Services building, once again they did an incredible job containing the fire to only one building when several where within feet away from the massive blaze.
Wednesday afternoon started out with a grass fire in Logan County which started on Mulhall road about half a mile to the west of I-35.
Strong winds kept the fire going for hours causing fire crews to work on both sides of it to keep it contained to only a half mile wide.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol had to shut down I-35 several times from exit 170 to 174 as smoke blew over the highway making it temporarily impassable.
When it was all said and done, the fire burned from Mulhall Rd. to Hwy 51, burning down one structure thought to be a barn and several round bails.
Friday was no exception to breaking news, luckily there wasn’t a flame around when construction crews broke an eight inch natural gas line while working in the 200 block of Couch Dr.
Around 500 employees who work in the UMB City Place building where evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Oklahoma Natural Gas had the gas line shutoff within the hour.
