Police searching for suspect in top shelf liquor theft
EDMOND, Okla. — It seems liquor thieves are coming to the “well” more often.
Store employees at Edmond Wine Shop say crooks have a taste for the really good stuff.
Megan Clark told us, “There have been people lifting Cristal out of the store or other expensive bottles. There is a black market for expensive alcohol.”
It’s not easy stealing a large, expensive bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Scotch.
Police in Edmond are hoping to talk to a large man in connection with a recent theft of a $209 bottle of the premium scotch.
Authorities said he tucked it under his oversized jersey and walked right out.
Clark said, “He put the whole thing in his giant jersey somehow. He was wearing very large, baggy clothes. It seems like he’s done this before.”
Before leaving Edmond Wine Shop, the alleged booze bandit even stopped to visit with the cashier and place a bogus order.
Edmond police spokesperson Jenny Monroe said, “He gave a name and number because he made a special order for some liquor. We’re not expecting him to come back.”
Police hope releasing and broadcasting his pictures will ultimately lead to an arrest.
