David Stanley Ford High School Senior Athlete of the Week – Kyra Gilbert
Kyra Gilbert of SouthMoore High School is this week’s Athlete of the Week. Congratulations! She plays basketball and also runs track for Southmoore High School. She is highly motivated, and extremely dedicated. Her coaches praise her highly as one of their top ahtletes and have commented that she is an important leader through her positive attitude and work ethic.
Because of the way she is intrinsically driven, which pushes others, she has been referred to as “the Kevin Durant” of her track team! While she chose to take a break from track her sophomore year, she qualified for state in track her freshman year in the 4 x 800 relay and junior year in the 800. Her first love is basketball, and she is great defensively and on the fast break.
She maintans a higher than 4.0 grade point average and is an excellent student. She has impeccable character and has made very positive life choices. She is one of those people you instantly like when you meet her because of her warm smile and the ease of her laughter.
She is beautiful, confident, and talented in so many areas. She will be a success in whatever she sets her mind upon. How I wish every young woman could believe in herself the way Kyra does! I admire her as I watch her live her life day to day and am proud of her every moment. I’m glad I get to be her mom.
