MWC man arrested on numerous child porn, lewd acts charges

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — Police have arrested a metro man on more than two-dozen counts involving child pornography and lewd acts.

It’s a story that is still developing.

The arrest happened earlier this week.

Midwest City Police would not go on camera but told us by phone this situation involved a computer being repaired.

Assistant Chief Sid Porter said inappropriate content was found and turned over to police.

He said a suspect was questioned, a home searched and then an arrest was made.

The news was shocking to those who live in the area.

They knew very little about the man arrested, 61-year-old Jack Owens.

Neighbors said he had only lived here a short time and kept to himself.

We went to Owens’ home; his mother answered the door.

She said her son was still in custody.

She was very nice but refused to comment on the arrest.

According to jail records, Owens was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on 20 counts of “Possession of Child Pornography” and five counts of “Lewd or Indecent Proposals or Acts to a Child.”

Neighbor Kelly Fields said, “It is concerning and I hope other neighbors around here find out about it as well.”

It’s news those who live in this quiet neighborhood did not expect to hear.

While Owens doesn’t live on a high-traffic street, it is less than half a mile from an elementary school.

Fields said, “We take our kids every day so hopefully there’s no danger for our kids and we watch out for the other kids.”

Neighbor Eric Arenas said, “That’s terrible. I’m just glad they caught him.”

Midwest City Police sent us a statement about the investigation.

They said a warrant was served at the residence and evidence was discovered.

In the statement they said, “No further information is being released due to the case being under investigative status at this time.”

Midwest City Police said this investigation is ongoing.

They said they are still sorting through evidence to figure out if more charges will need to be filed.
