Bartlesville man arrested for battery, investigation continues
BARTLESVILLE, Okla.—Police are investigating the death of a baby in the eastern part of the state.
Officials are waiting on the results of an autopsy being performed on the remains of a newborn girl found last weekend in downtown Bartlesville.
The Washington County District Attorney says he believes the child is connected to an ongoing domestic abuse case in Nowata County, which involves 29-year-old Matthew Cartwright.
Cartwright was charged with domestic assault and battery of a pregnant woman back in July.
According to authorities, Cartwright’s girlfriend says he hit her in the face, punched and kicked her in the stomach and caused her to have a miscarriage.
The district attorney says additional charges may be filed depending on the finding of the medical examiner’s office.
