Large home destroyed by fire
OKLAHOMA CITY — A large house fire lights up the night sky early Thursday morning in northwest Oklahoma City.
The home is located in the 3900 block of Landmark Road near NW 36th and Sara Road.
Firefighters responded to the emergency call after midnight.
Neighbors report seeing flames from a mile away.
The two-story structure was engulfed in flames.
Crews fought the fire for an hour before getting in under control, after the roof collapsed.
“We had a partial collapse minutes after arriving on the scene so it had been burning an extensive amount of time before we got the call.” said Oklahoma City Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Kelly.
The homeowner was out of town at the time of the fire.
No one was injured.
The house is a total loss, with a damage estimate of about $300,000.
The cause is under investigation.
