Neighbors save homeowners from house fire
OKLAHOMA CITY– Some alert neighbors are being credited with saving lives after they spotted smoke and flames coming from the back of a house Saturday.
Neighbors saw heavy flames and smoke coming from a house in the 4500 block of S. Brookline just before 5 p.m. and rushed into action.
They were able to get everyone out of the home before calling fire crews.
Authorities say it appears the blaze started in the back of the house and quickly spread to the deck and attic.
Batt. Chief Chris Jackson, with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, said, ” It looks like approximately $25,000 worth in damage. A quarter of the house was destroyed before we could get the flames put out.”
Fortunately, no one was injured.
The fire is still under investigation but firefighters say it appears that it was not intentionally set.
