OKC Zoo welcomes new furry friend
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahomans are known for their hospitality, so much so we have a reputation in the animal world as well.
Meet “Ruben,” the 7-month-old chimpanzee who just arrived over the summer from a zoo in Tampa, Fla.
His mother died after giving birth and his father treated him badly so it was necessary to find this little guy a new home.
The Oklahoma City Zoo welcomed Ruben with open arms.
Since then, he’s received around-the-clock care and zoo officials tell us Ruben is fitting in nicely with his new chimp family.
So far, our zoo has had two successful chimpanzee surrogate situations.
