Police find bomb through text message
EDMOND, Okla. – Edmond Police busted a man who they said was trying to steal copper from a home but he ended up leading them to a very different crime scene.
Officers said they caught 45-year-old Matthew Burke in the act of stealing copper in an Edmond subdivision under construction.
But that’s not all, observant officers found text messages in his cell phone talking about a bomb he placed under a person’s vehicle in Midwest City.
They contacted the bomb squad and Midwest City officers found the bomb exactly where Burke said it was located.
Burke told police he intended to blow up one of his enemies.
Police said the person Burke planned to harm doesn’t even live in the house where the vehicle was parked.
Burke faces charges in Midwest City and Edmond.
