American Airlines laying off 400 in Tulsa
TULSA, Okla.—While recent unemployment numbers are lower than expected, a national airline announced that it will be laying off hundreds of employees in Tulsa.
According to the Transport Workers Union, 443 American Airlines employees will be laid off from the Tulsa facility.
Officials say nearly 300 of those are aircraft maintenance workers with the remainder of the layoffs coming from fleet service clerks.
Some of those employees will be able to apply for other jobs within the company, but they will most likely have to take a pay cut or move.
Experts predict the fleet service clerks will be laid off in November and December.
The mechanics will be let go between December and February of next year.
