Former mayor dies from West Nile
GUTHRIE, Okla.—An Oklahoma town is mourning the loss of a well-known resident and former mayor.
Jon Gumerson passed away after becoming infected with the West Nile Virus this past summer.
Friends and family say he was proud to be a part of the town of Guthrie and loved the Sooners.
In his honor, the First Christian Church and the Oklahoma Blood Institute are holding a blood drive on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
No word yet on when services will be held.
Gumerson’s death brings the total number of deaths from the virus to 10 in our state.
