ARRESTED: Suspects accused of killing woman during car theft

Suspects arrested in robbery murder

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma woman is killed by would-be thieves.

The two suspects wanted for the shooting have been arrested.

The murder happened Friday night on the 1600 block of N.W. 15th St.

Police said 51-year-old Lorinda Frans and her husband reportedly found two potential thieves trying to break into their car.

The suspects opened fire at the couple then fled the scene.

“It appears the victims startled the two suspects as they were standing by their car; shots were fired and ultimately the victim was hit,” OKC Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

Oklahoma City police said witnesses led investigators to another home in Moore where they arrested two suspects, 32-year-old Brian Cook and 26-year-old Branden Bates.

Bates’ family is upset about the allegations and didn’t want to go on camera but did admit they couldn’t say for sure in the two men are guilty or not.

“I just don’t want my family associated with this,” that family member said. “Don’t want a news story with my house on TV as a crime scene. The boys came here after whatever they did. I don’t need y’all here.”

At the moment, police said the victims appear to have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“These people were just going to their vehicle and saw two suspects and the female was shot,” Wardlow said.

In addition to murder, both suspects also have warrants for previous charges out of Mayes County and Cleveland County.

Both are being held without bond.
