OKC police recruit dies after training accident
OKLAHOMA CITY — We now know the identity of a police recruit who died during a training accident Saturday.
OKC Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said 38-year-old Kelley Chase was participating in “custody control and defensive tactics training” when he fell and hit his head.
The recruit was placed in intensive care Friday after the accident; his situation was described as “bleak” at that time.
Chase spent 20 years in the air force before becoming a police cadet.
Chase leaves behind a wife and two children.
