Military mom pulls off big surprise
OKLAHOMA CITY – Our In Your Corner team is best known for sticking up for the little guy.
Wednesday they were give a different assignment, to cover a military mother’s special reunion with her two young children.
The big surprise took place at Cross Timbers Elementary in Edmond.
Six-year-old Jason Teague had no idea his mom, Major Amy Teague, had returned home early from her deployment in the desert.
“I am nervous,” Amy said. “I’m excited though.”
We were there as Amy, her boyfriend, Joe, and others moved in for the big surprise.
When Jason spotted his mom, he ran to her and gave her the biggest hug.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
The surprises weren’t done there.
Amy made the way to her daughter’s classroom down the hall.
Nine-year-old Victoria hit the ground running and jumped into her mom’s loving arms.
Amy’s stint in the desert is over, for now.
She has much to catch up on.
Already her kids understand sacrifice; they know their mom is serving a greater purpose.
“It feels very cool and I’m very thankful she does that,” Victoria said. “Because people, they thank her and that kind of feels good.”
Amy’s boyfriend cared for the children while their mom was deployed.
Their father is currently deployed in Germany.
Amy will spend the next six months at home before receiving her next orders.
