LAWTON, Okla. - It’s the knock on the door every soldier’s family dreads.
The one where the door is opened and a member of the Department of Defense is standing there to bring the awful news that your loved one has died in battle.
That was the reality for Lawton resident Amanda Alexander a few months back.
Her husband, Toby, was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
But her friends rallied around her, helping her cope with the loneliness and tragedy.
They also nominated her for 'The Christmas Decor' free holiday house lighting program.
This week the company came out and decorated her home with outdoor lights absolutely free.
They say it's just a way to brighten the Christmas season for Amanda.
“It’s just a way we can pay them back,” said Darin Ingram, owner of Christmas Décor. “That's the only way we can pay them back. We just do what we can.”
It seems that is has worked; when Amanda saw the lights she had three words, “Big, bright, Beautiful!”
