CHICKASHA, Okla. - Police in Chickasha are investigating an unusual burglary that involved one of the suspects stripping out of his clothes during his get away.
The front of Corey Couch's house is inviting.
Snowmen decorate the garden and a Christmas wreath hangs on the door, but police say a couple of thieves decided to head around back and kicked their way inside the house.
Corey and his family were not home, the the thieves thought they had it made.
While they were loading up Corey's property, an observant neighbor was sizing them up and called police.
"While we were enroute to the call it was upgraded to a burglary," Chickasha Police Lt. G. G. Music said. "The same person who had called in had seen the suspicous person and an additional person coming out of the house carrying items."
The neighbor called authorities when he saw two suspicous people peeking into the windows or Corey's house.
When he was on the phone with police he saw them carrying things out in backpacks.
"The backpack had several very expensive items in it, firearm related items," Music said.
"My wife called me and said someone had kicked in the door and there was stuff in the yard," Couch said.
Both suspects were juveniles.
When police got on scene, one took off running and the other jumped a fence and stripped all the way home.
Detectives later found the clothes peeled off behind someone's air conditioner unit.
Investigators quickly tracked them down.
"They had additional stolen property in their room from at least five other burglaries as well as several pieces of drug paraphernalia, drugs, marijuana, meth," Music said.
All the stolen property was returned to the rightful owners, but...
Had it not been for the citizen getting the descriptions...
Police said, "If he wouldn't have been here we would still be wondering who's stealing everything."
