HOUSTON — Former U.S. president George HW Bush is now in a Houston-area hospital’s intensive care unit “following a series of setbacks including a persistent fever.”
Bush’s spokeman, Jim McGrath, told the media that the former President is alert and talking to medical staff and that he had been admitted to Methodist Hospital’s ICO unit this last Sunday.
McGrath also indicated that Bush was in “guarded condition” but did not release any other medical details. Bush has been in the hospital since November 23rd when he was admitted for a recurring cough related to bronchitis. As time progressed, Bush’s condition became worse and he developed a lingering fever that would not go away – and that fever became elevated in the past week.
