David Stanley Chevrolet of Norman High School Senior Athlete of the Week – Derrick Curless

I would like to nominate Derrick Curless for the Athlete of the week. Derrick has been a true inspiration to not only his family but his whole school. Throughout both junior high and high school Derrick has received many citizenship awards for his good mannerisms, respect and leadership abilities.

Many of Derrick’s teachers have commented about his respect for them and the way he looks out for his underclassman. Derrick currently has a 3.50 grade average he is active in football, track and he power lifts. Outside of school Derrick has a part time job at one of our local hospitals. Whenever someone needs help Derrick is always there to help, wanting absolutely nothing in return. Derrick is a big brother to all always willing to take “the little guy” under his wing, whether this is someone actually smaller then himself or not!! If anyone deserves this award we feel Derrick does for everything he does for everyone else.
