Former lunch lady accused of stealing lunch money
YUKON, Okla. – A former cafeteria manager is accused of “cooking the books” and embezzling over $8,000 from the Yukon Public School District.
The Canadian County District Attorney’s Office filed four counts of embezzlement against Connie Lynn Wise, 54, who worked at Lakeview Elementary School.
Wise was in charge of student lunch accounts at the school.
Investigators said Wise would take cash payments and pocket them.
Yukon Police said they believe she would then enter incorrect information into the account database.
“When we confronted her she denied that and said that she would pay it back even though she didn’t take the money,” Yukon Public Schools Superintendent Bill Denton said.
School officials said Wise resigned.
The allegations date back to the 2011-2012 school year.
“It was done almost every day of school and she was responsible for making those deposits, ” Lt. Ron Mathews said.
News Channel 4 did attempt to speak with Wise but she was unavailable.
