Man accused of Norman’s only 2012 murder to stand trial
NORMAN, Okla. – A man charged with Norman’s only murder in 2012 will stand trial.
Last Sept. 20-year-old Dustin Dale Allen was charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot 57-year-old Mary E. Benavidez.
Authorities said Allen went to the woman’s home along Stubbman Ave. looking for her son.
He allegedly kicked in the door and was confronted by the victim.
She was shot in the chest while backing away from the suspect.
The victim’s son heard the gunshot and called police.
A short time later, Oklahoma City police found Allen in Oklahoma City while investigating an attempted armed robbery.
Allen will stand trial for both first-degree murder and burglary.
A trial date hasn’t been set yet.
