Mustang wins carton creation competition

MUSTANG, Okla.—A local elementary school is being recognized for its creativity when it comes to recycling.

Evergreen Packaging announced that Mustang Elementary School won the grand prize of $5,000 in the “Made By Milk Carton Construction Contest.”

Over 100 schools across the country participated in the competition but Mustang wowed judges with its milk carton coral creation.

Kent Hathaway, art teacher at Mustang Elementary, said, “It was a great way to teach the kids about recycling and making good choices while having fun.”

Organizers say the competition was created to promote awareness of carton recycling and the importance of choosing cartons in school..

Representatives from Evergreen will present the grand prize to school officials during an assembly on Feb. 1.
