‘Dear Abby’ loses battle with Alzheimer’s
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – A woman newspaper readers the world over knew as “Dear Abby” has lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Pauline Phillips died in Minneapolis Wednesday.
Her family held private funeral services Thursday.
The “Dear Abby” column first appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle in 1956.
The advice column was syndicated and carried by newspapers around the world.
“Dear Abby’s” daughter, Jeanne Phillips took over the column when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and will continue writing for it.
