Memorial announces largest gift in its history

Memorial Inasmuch donation

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum announced the largest gift in its history Thursday.

The Inasmuch Foundation founded by Edith Gaylord will make a $3.5 million capital grant to the 9:03 Fund.

That fund has a goal of raising $15 million to enhance the museum.

With the total amount collected now topping $11 million dollars, construction can begin this year.

“People ask us what’s the $15 million for,” 9:03 Fund Co-Chair Mike Turpen said. “The $10 million is for the endowment to ensure future growth. The $5 million, that’s pretty exciting. That’s to renovate the entire building you’re in right now.”

The current museum simply doesn’t have space to display many items, including the trial evidence from the McVeigh and Nichols trials.

The push now is on to raise the rest of the money needed to hit that $15 million mark.
