Groupon brings gun deals to a halt
AUSTIN, Texas—Groupon has suspended all deals related to guns, which is causing a lot of gun rights advocates to go up in arms.
Julie Mossler, Groupon spokesperson, released a statement to NBC saying, “All scheduled and current gun-related deals featured on Groupon North America, including shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry and clay shooting, have been placed on hiatus while we review internal standards that shape the deal inventory we feature. The category is under review following recent consumer and merchant feedback.”
Groupon’s move, which was first reported by AOL’s DailyFinance, has caused a lot of heartache for businesses.
In fact, Central Texas Gun Works had its promotion for a concealed handgun license class terminated by the company.
The move came just days after Groupon asked the owner to increase the number of slots available because it was already in danger of selling out.
Now, gun businesses are calling for a Groupon boycott and taking to Twitter to express their displeasure for move.
