Murder charges against Blanchard husband may be dropped

BLANCHARD, OK — There is a surprise twist in the case of a Blanchard husband accused of murder.

For nearly a year, Justin Adams has been charged with killing his wife, Jaymie Adams, as well as their unborn child.

Tuesday the district attorney confirms those murder charges will be amended.

Nearly one year after murder charges were filed against Justin Adams, the district attorney has asked police to pursue additional evidence against a new possible suspect.

In the meantime, Adams’ mother and attorney had some harsh words for prosecutors.

“We’ve never been treated as victims,” Justin’s mother, Tina Clarke said. “We’ve been suspects from day one and he never got to grieve over his wife.”

Jaymie Adams disappeared from a McDonald’s parking lot in late 2011 while allegedly working as a Craigslist prostitute.

Her body turned up several weeks later in the woods near Lake Stanley Draper.

Court records now show DNA evidence taken from Jaymie’s body matched another man identified as Joseph Cyr.

That man hasn’t been arrested but it right now appears Justin will no longer be accused of the murder.

“Keep in mind they filed murder charges,” Justin’s attorney, Irven Box, said. “They said we have the guy who took her out, stabbed her and mutilated her body and all along they were totally wrong.”

District attorney David Prater wrote, “At our request, the Oklahoma City police depart has pursued additional evidence. We continue to allege that Justin Adams has culpability in the death of his wife. Charges will be amended to reflect the level of his suspected culpability.”

“I think what they’re doing is saving save,” Box said. “They’ll file a manslaughter charge that he allowed her to go on Craigslist which I think that’s baloney.”

The DA did not say what the new charges against Adams could be, nor when they could be filed.
