David Stanley Chevrolet of Norman High School Senior Athlete of the Week – Zach Mainka

Zach Mainka is a senior at Alex High School. He plays football and basketball for our small school. He is a leader on the field as well as off the field. What makes this young man special is he cares for people.

I have a 4 year old daughter, Vanna, with cochlear implants and we use sign language to help her communicate. Zach has taken the time to learn some sign and talk to my daughter. Last night at the football game when he scored, he looked to the crowd and signed Vanna’s name. It melted my heart.

I have no way to show him how special that is to our family. Children like this need to be honored and recognized. When so much bullying is going on this young man demonstrates high character.

Please honor this young man as he has honored our family.
