JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—A company in Florida is getting national attention after getting a special request from a soldier and responding in a very unique way.

Shawn Fulker is serving in Afghanistan but still wanted to make his wife’s birthday something special.

While he wouldn’t be able to take her out for a nice dinner, he came up with the idea to bring her favorite food to their doorstep.

He emailed the Mellow Mushroom pizza shop to ask if they could deliver a pizza to his home, along with a gift certificate.

He said if they were able to deliver, he would call the restaurant with his credit card information.

Fulker said he expected an email back but began to worry when he didn’t hear back from the store that night.

Since he wasn’t able to check his email for a while, he had no idea of the plans by Mellow Mushroom.

However, it seems the restaurant owners were too busy to tell him everything they had planned.

The cooks made a heart-shaped pizza while employees ran to a nearby store to get flowers and balloons before the delivery.

Josephine opened her door to be greeted with the balloons, flowers, pizza and, to top it all off, a $50 gift card.

And everything was provided free of charge.

Fulker learned about the special delivery in an email from his wife.

He says he also received an email from the general manager of the store with a simple statement; “We got you bro.”

The company even took pictures of his family and sent them along so Shawn could share in the moment.

Mellow Mushroom’s Facebook page has been overwhelmed with people across the country thanking them for their willingness to go above and beyond.
