Search underway for missing U.S. plane
RIMINI, ITALY—Search efforts are underway for a missing U.S. Air Force F-16 that may have crashed in the Adriatic Sea.
Officials say the plane and pilot are missing but searchers say a fuel slick has been found at sea.
A fishing boat discovered some sort of debris, which could be remnants of the jet, but those allegations have not been confirmed.
The U.S. Air Force said the aircraft lost contact with air traffic controllers Monday night while on a training mission.
Italy has scrambled its Coast Guard to the area to help search for the missing pilot.
Divers, planes, boats and helicopters are all involved in the search efforts but officials say their hope for finding the pilot alive is running out.
